1. LA JOLLA COVE
La Jolla Cove is one of those places you’ve heard of that lives up to the hype. In the summer months, La Jolla Cove has incredible visibility and accommodates swimmer, scuba divers and snorkelers. Because La Jolla Cove is a protected reserve, it’s beauty abounds and it’s a must-see for any San Diego visitor.
2. SAN DIEGO ZOO
The San Diego Zoo is located about 30 miles north of downtown San Diego. If you’re an animal lover, then make sure you visit the San Diego Zoo. The zoo is home to more than 3,000 animals. Many of these animals are endangered, and with the help of the San Diego Zoo, there is research being done on how to help these animals become self-sustaining. 3. USS MIDWAY MUSEUM
Established in 1992, the USS Midway Museum is devoted to preserving the USS Midway, as well as inspiring the next generation. The museum is open seven days a week from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. 4. GASLAMP QUARTER
The Gaslamp Quarter has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. Today, the Gaslamp Quarter is home to over 200 restaurants, night clubs, bars and shops. It’s unique architecture and vibe make it the place to go if you’re looking for a good time.
5. SUNSET CLIFFS NATURAL PARK
If you’re looking for one of those picturesque California sunsets, look no further than the Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. The park is filled with incredible views of the ocean, sea caves, and cliffs. It’s a truly magical place and should be apart of your next visit to San Diego.
6. BALBOA PARK
Balboa Park is the nation’s largest urban cultural center. There are 15 museums, gardens, art venues and of course, the San Diego Zoo. 7. POINT LOMA

8. TORREY PINES STATE NATURAL RESERVE
If you’re a hiker, look no further than Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. The reserve is a plateau that overlooks the Torrey Pines State Beach. The reserve has forest like terrain with abundant wildlife. There are roughly eight miles of trails within the reserve, ranging from the cliffs to the beach. It’s a truly magnificent park that will scratch that outdoors-y itch.
9. SAN DIEGO NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM
Also located in Balboa Park is the San Diego Natural History Museum. The museum features many exhibitions ranging from dinosaurs, a skull collection, various fossils and many others. The San Diego Natural History Museum is a great place for families of all ages.
10. CABRILLO NATIONAL MONUMENT
The Cabrillo National Monument celebrates Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who in 1542, was the first European to step onto what is now known as the West Coast of the United States. Besides the monument and the rich history, there is also a beautiful lighthouse as well as stunning cliffs and ocean views.
