What do I do if I have a warrant for my arrest?
People usually have warrants if they fail to appear in court for their specific court date, or if they fail to comply with conditions of their probation. In San Diego you usually get a letter in the mail notifying you that you have a warrant. Or you can look it up on the San Diego county sheriffs website. Many times you can have your warrant cleared by going back to court to see the judge, or you may be picked up (arrested) randomly by the Sheriff. The Sheriff does routine warrant sweeps where a task force will go out looking for those who have outstanding warrants. Even simple things like missing your MADD class for a DUI is a reason for a warrant to go out. Sometimes you can even hire a bail bondsmen to post your bail and that will clear the warrant and give you a court date to appear in court. I obviously recommend hiring a lawyer who can appear in court for you and clear the warrant that way.Bradley Corbett
