Can someone find my Criminal Background
Researching your new Boyfriend or Girlfriends background Remember arrest records in San Diego are public record….. Today we live in an age of digital content. Every picture someone posts, and every word they say online is stored somewhere on Internet. It makes finding out information about another a whole lot easier. What happened to just going out on a date and asking them about themselves? The problem with that is not only the fact that many daters are dishonest and hide negative things about themselves but also a lot more people are meeting online these days. When you meet someone online it may not be the proper forum to just come out and ask someone if they have been convicted of a crime or if they have had troubles with the law in the past. That kind of thing, if ever, is something that comes up in more of an intimate setting where people are opening up to each other and know that they can share each other’s trust. Where can the research be done? Research can always start with Google. It is easy enough to find out someone’s last name and approximate date of birth and then simply search them in a Google Search. A straight search will show any newspaper articles about them or anything that is urgent that you need to know immediately. If you meet someone online Google Image Search now has an option where you can drag their photo into the search and see if that photo comes up anywhere else on the internet. Other things to look at are their face book page or a page where their business platform is displayed like LinkedIn. If the individual has a period where they had not been working for a couple years then this may be something that you need to further investigate. If you want to know about someone’s promiscuity there are sites like thedirty.com that make others aware of individuals who have had issues with this in the past. The worst case scenario that one can get themselves into is where they are with someone who has a violent or undesirable past and they are putting themselves at risk. There are also sites that give criminal records checks or give you access to public records. Sites like Lexis Nexis, allow one to look at a criminal records check, look up licenses, assets and even marriage records. You have to remember that a potential partner that seems so wonderful could be a con man, a thief, an alcoholic, druggie, or have even been convicted of domestic violence or sex offenses in the past. From experience as a Criminal Defense attorney the people being convicted of domestic violence or sex offenses are often repeat offenders. In situations like this it is better to be safe than sorry. Do you always want to know? It is obvious to all that they would want to know if they are going out with convicted rapist or a chronic thief but sometimes this intense prying can mess up something great. If you are with someone that you really care about and trust then maybe intense digging into their background is not always the best thing to do. Often individuals make mistakes and may have been convicted of a petty theft or a DUI 10 years ago. It may be something that you didn’t want to know. Something that is not important but is able to create a bias about the individual you just began to date. Overall it is always a good idea to do a general search on something you are with, but when you get into the fine details just know that people do make mistakes and that sometimes you may be better off not knowing about minor things that happened in the past.Bradley Corbett
