Drunk Flying Is A Common Occurrence

Another_Airplane!_(4676723312) It’s no surprise that about 25% of Americans have anxieties about flying — there’s a lot that could potentially happen if you think about it.
The one thing that we don’t concern ourselves with turns out to be something that is mind-blowing: pilots flying drunk. We talk about DUIs in cars all the time but rarely do we think that the pilot of a commercial airline would be so carefree as to use drugs or alcohol prior to commandeering an airplane.A recent news outlet reported that documents from the FAA revealed that there have been quite a few infractions with pilots flying drunk and that drunk flying is a common occurrence. Peter Bartos, a retired pilot informed the news of the following: “According to Federal Aviation Administration data, there is no leveling off or decrease in this trend, in fact drug use seems to be climbing,” said Bartos, a retired military pilot with an FAA Airline Transport Pilot license, who reviewed the FAA data for FoxNews.com. “The general public probably has no idea that this abuse is occurring with such regularity at certain airlines.” Also found on the FAA website was evidence that there is a considerably significant relation between fatal aircraft deaths and alcohol. Since the DMV code does not apply to aircraft, the same laws don’t quite stand the same. Here in California, the penal code 21407.2 for flying under the influence reads: “It is unlawful for any person to operate an aircraft in the air, or on the ground or water in a careless or reckless manner so as to endanger the life or property of another. In any proceeding charging operation of aircraft in violation of this section, the court in determining whether the operation was careless or reckless shall consider the standards for safe operation of aircraft prescribed by federal statutes or regulations governing aeronautics.”  It’s evident that this is more common than most citizens would like or consider, but if you do find yourself in need of defense for an FUI contact the Law Office of Bradley Corbett today.
